I am changing my outreach method from this blog to an e-mail list, which I am calling the Adventurer’s Club. If you like my writing and are interested in learning more about me and what’s coming next, this is the place to go. So if this picture intrigues you, the Adventurer’s Club might be for you.

First of all, I promise I will never spam you. I intend to send an update once a month or every couple of weeks at most. My e-mails will be primarily news about what I’m working on or perhaps something more personal about me. I also welcome your e-mail, questions, comments, or whatever. This group will be the first to learn when new books are available or upcoming. They will see new cover reveals first, and will be given other special benefits. As an incentive to join, you will get a FREE COPY of any of my individual e-books. All you have to do is sign up, and then send me an e-mail to karl@karljmorgan.com specifying which book you would like and the format you need. I can send epub, mobi or PDF formats.

For clarification, mobi is the format used by Kindle devices. Virtually all the others use epub. If you don’t have an e-book reader, you can download free ones, or I can send a PDF. By individual books, I mean any other than my collections (The Dave Brewster Series, launching 7 July 2015, an upcoming Modern Prophet collection, and any anthologies in which my work is included). In this adventure, Josh Carpenter lives in the not too distant future in the megalopolis of San Diego. Josh is a NEM (Not Enhanced or Modified person) living in a region where DNA enhancement and replacing body parts with bionic versions is the norm. But there is something different about this NEM.

Josh begins to exhibit unique talents that quickly draw the attention of both those wishing to help him and those who would prefer him to be dead. As wars break out and terrorist attacks spread around the globe, Josh finds himself caught between the forces of good and evil, but which is which? The future of life on Earth and possibly the universe itself will rely on the choices this young man makes. Will humanity survive? I guess that is up to Josh.

Modern Prophet Series- background

Book 3 of the Modern Prophet series is about to be released, so I thought I would let you know why I decided to write these novels. Originally, I wanted to explore what would happen to protagonists who develop extraordinary abilities and are then thrust into terrifying situations that could lead to war and their deaths. Well, that is certainly true for the books I have written and am planning to write. But another theme has arisen as I work my way through the plots.

Most of the books of this series are about the personal relationship between people and the Divine. My heroes interact with angels and demons as they try to understand their place in the world and stop terrible events from happening. The protagonist is unaware of the nature of other characters in the beginning, but as the plots evolve, they finally come to understand what is going on. Then they must make choices that will affect themselves and the very existence of humanity. If that sounds intriguing, please check them out.

The notable exception to this is book 2, The Reluctant Prophet: A Love Story. That book is much like the others, except the angels and demons are replaced by time travelers, spies, drug lords, and loony government officials.

Reluctant Prophet Goodreads Giveaway

TheReluctantProphet-coverI have just posted a giveaway on www.goodreads.com for ten copies of my latest novel, The Reluctant Prophet: A Love Story. While this is part of the new Modern Prophets series, the heroine first made her appearance in the Dave Brewster series of science fiction novels. Even Dave Brewster and Charlie Watson (the key protagonists from that series) have cameos.

This book is very different from book one (Two Doors) even though both deal with young men who can foresee future events. While that book dealt with demons and angels fighting for control of the world, this book is more personal: one man’s voyage through life, searching for his destiny and finding love. Zeke Thompson will have to face terrible danger as others try to gain control over his knowledge. I’m very proud of the new series, which follows men who find they have incredible talents within them, and are then forced to deal with many different life-and-death challenges. The stories revolve around the never-ending struggle between good and evil, and how our lives are determined by our choices. Our heroes are forced to deal with others who have chosen poorly, putting their lives and the fate of all life on Earth at risk. The question is how will they choose when faced with evil themselves? The stories in the series are all very fast-paced and the bulk of the plot occurs over a few days or weeks.

I just won NaNoWriMo 2014

nanowrimo2014I just won the National Novel Writing Month contest for 2014! I finished the first fifty thousands words of my new novel, tentatively entitled, Demonic. It will be book 4 of the Modern Prophet series.

The book follows the hero as hordes of terrorists invade the US and nuclear bombs explode. He discovers some dark but amazing abilities that have lain dormant inside him for his whole life. Now he is desperately trying to find his wife and daughter who have been kidnapped by sinister forces. Soon he finds himself deep in an evil plot to enslave our world.
