HIVE-ebookcover (2)The Hive is the sequel to The Second Predaxian War and will be in print soon. Believe me that I don’t write that fast! I had some delays with my cover art but am making up for it now.

A period of relative galactic peace is dawning at the end of The Second Predaxian War. Now Dave Brewster can confidently resume his mission to found a thousand new colonies for the Council of Humanity. With the assistance of his team and their new allies on Tak-Makla, success seems assured. Unfortunately, the life of an explorer is never that easy.

Join Dave again as he returns to Tak-Makla and makes a discovery that will change the course of mankind forever. Walking through the corridors of The Hive with its ten billion spider-like agents, the last thing he expected to find is a beautiful young woman. What she tells him will contradict everything he knew about human life and evolution, upend the balance of power in two galaxies, and ultimately lead to an unimaginable journey to another galaxy.

The Hive is a story of redemption. No matter which planet we come from, we all bear the scars of our brutal and tyrannical pasts. Our darker side can reappear anytime people become complacent or apathetic. The advances of science and technology only improve our ability to control and manipulate our brothers. Can any of us ever break free of the past and be truly noble and just? The odds are stacked against Dave and Fa-a-Di this time.

The sequel to Showdown Over Neptune is now in print. The Predaxian Emperor, Nokalez Zendo is featured on the cover. Isn’t he pretty?

The Predaxian Alliance, led by Emperor Zendo, has invaded Greater Gallia in their drive to enslave the galaxy. The first invasion attempt was pushed back, but not before too many brave soldiers were killed or taken prisoner. Now the Predaxians are coming back with their entire fleet, heavily outgunning the forces of Gallia, Kalidus and Earth.

The Second Predaxian War begins at a time of apparent turmoil within the Alliance, as a rising tide of dissent is turning public opinion against the Emperor, who has imprisoned his own son for opposing his imperialistic ways. Can those Predaxians be counted on to help bring down the Emperor, or is this just a lure into a trap?

In order to find new allies and resources, Dave is sent on a mission into unexplored space. Along the way, he discovers another maklan civilization that has developed the most powerful technology the universe has even known. Can they be convinced to help end the carnage and bring peace to this side of the galaxy? Dave’s friendship with Fa-a-Di, De-o-Nu and Jake Benomafolays will be put to the test to find out!

San Diego Local Author’s Event

Last night, the San Diego Public Library held an event to recognize San Diego County authors. It was my pleasure to be there. There were over 200 people in attendance and the variety of folks and their works were amazing. It is great to be considered one of their peers.

We each received a medal (ooh!) and our books will be on display in the library throughout the month of February. This was the 47th annual event, and I think this is a great thing for them to do. I certainly enjoyed meeting many authors there, including David Brin, who was there with his latest work.

My Graphic Artists

As we all know, a book cover is the first thing that a potential reader sees when browsing for new things to read. I have been very blessed to work with two exceptional artists. I think it’s about time I sang their praises and let my friends know more about them.

Miko of Drawing a Crowd designed the covers for Remembrances and Showdown Over Neptune. She has always been very professional and I hope you agree with me that those covers were amazing. Please check out her work at www.drawingacrowd.net.

Since she has been so busy, she had found a new artist to help with the next series of covers. His name is Ron and his website is www.ronaldcalica.blogspot.com. He has almost completed the cover for The Second Predaxian War and I have to tell you that it is unbelievable. I hope to be able to show a picture of that very soon. He is also on board for the next iteration of the Dave Brewster Series, entitled The Hive.

I have asked both of them to comment on this post if they like with more information about their work, and I hope they think our covers are good enough for their websites. Please take a look at what they do and tell everyone where they can find some great artists for whatever work they need.

My First Fantasy Novel!

Dear friends and fans, I have just finished the rough draft of my first fantasy novel. I am very excited that I was able to complete it in 2012. That gives me time to focus on new things starting tomorrow!

I’m not sure how quickly it will come out, but I hope you keep an eye out for it. Switching from space exploration to fantasy was not easy, but I think it came out pretty well. Wish me luck.

Just so you know, there are also two more science fiction books in the hopper, waiting for covers. I’ve mentioned The Second Predaxian War already. But there is another in the Dave Brewster series after that! But no worries. Dave doesn’t appear in the fantasy and no one flies a space craft.

The Second Predaxian War

Now that Showdown over Neptune is published, I thought I’d say a few words about the sequel, titled The Second Predaxian War. At the end of Showdown, the Predaxian Alliance has again invaded the frontiers of Greater Gallia. In the second book, Dave Brewster and his friends need to find a way to turn back the superior forces of the Alliance before their mind control agents can expand their domination of the galaxy. There are more than a few surprising turns in the story which again shows how mysterious and magical our universe is.

My graphic artist is working on sketches for the cover now. After seeing how fabulous the cover for Showdown turned out, I am very excited to see them. I’ll keep everyone posted on the book’s progress.

Kindle versions available

I am thrilled to announce that Kindle versions of Remembrances and Showdown Over Neptune are now available from Amazon. My publisher and I worked hard to get the formatting correct, which is very different from the formatting of a printed book.

Since it was our first attempt, please let me know if we can improve anything, or if we made any obvious mistakes. I’ve also submitted Showdown Over Neptune to Barnes and Noble for the Nook devices. I’ll announce that when I get approval from them.
