Welcome to day four of Robbie Cheadle’s RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB’S MARCH “SPOTLIGHT” Author Blog Tour. Take it away, Robbie:
Open a new door, a collection of poems
Youthful Infatuation is a humorous poem about young love; the excitement, the uncertainty, and the thrill.
About Youthful Infatuation
I wrote this poem for a youthful colleague of mine. I have been married for over seventeen years and she is still in the dating phase. Her intense joys, pleasures and disappointments with men and dating reminded me of the highs and lows of my own dating days.
Youthful Infatuation
Did he see me in the crowd?
Oh my goodness was I being too loud?
Does this dress make me look slim?
Is my hair in need of a trim?
Did I really catch his eye?
Or is my mind telling me a lie?
Will he ask me for my number?
What if he calls while I slumber?
Or worse, what if he doesn’t call at all?
That will make me feel hurt and small.
If he calls where will we go?
Will I be able to go with the flow?
Will I trip up over my tongue?
Make him wish he’d never rung?
It might also be loads of fun.
Maybe, just maybe, he’ll be the one.

The purpose of this book of poetry is encapsulated in the following tanka and haiku poems:
What drives me to write?
To share my innermost thoughts
The answer is clear
It’s my personal attempt
To make some sense of this world.

What a cute poem, Robbie! I teach middle school, so I’m surrounded by kids having similar conversations. Lol! In fact, just yesterday I had a student ask me for advice for her brother. I don’t miss those days. Lol! Thanks for hosting today, Karl! 🙂
Hi Yvette, the young lady in question and I had a good giggle over this poem. I also don’t miss these days although they were very exciting.
I love this poem! It definitely reminded me of my dating years (a long time ago!) 🙂 Thank you for hosting, Karl!
Hi Jan, when I wrote this, I remember those days of worrying about everything and being so excited about a phone call or a gift of flowers for a romantic interest.
Hi Robbie, Hi Karl,
Robbie, I think we all go through the puberty years with much worry. I had to smile because now when I look back, I see that some of the things that I experienced weren’t bad at all. They were actually things that protected me from getting with the wrong crowd. I am happy I got pass them. I surely don’t them and now I can laugh.
Nice poem
Karl, thank you for hosting Robbie on your blog today.
Wishing you both a lovely day and weekend.
Shalom aleichem
Hi Pat, it was the same for me, a time of rollercoaster emotions and upheavals. I am glad I’m through it all too.
Hi Karl, thank you for featuring me on your blog today. I appreciate it and I hope this poem gave you a smile.
It’s always a pleasure to host great writers like you, Robbie. Enjoy the tour.

I like your line about how writing is your personal attempt to make sense of the world, Robbie. Great job!
Hi Barbara, thank you for visiting me here. That is exactly what poetry does for me. When I am upset or emotional, I clear my head by writing a poem about it.
What memories! Thanks for hosting Robbie and her book of poems. Oh, those times!
Aren’t you glad these days are over, Olga. Thanks for visiting.
Hi Robbie. Youthful Infatuation. Oh, how I remember. I was boy crazy back in the day so can relate to every word you say. Thank you for reminding us of the memories.

Hi Shirley, my boys are both teenagers and I am watching them go through this whirlwind of emotion and hormones. Thanks for visiting.
Yes, when we are young we want people’s validation. With age, we learn to trust our own judgements. That is life! Thank you, Karl, for hosting her.
